Rapport Group vs. Other GPS Fleet Tracking Companies in Qatar

Location Solutions, Falcon Trackers, Fleet Board GPS, EffyTrack, Rapport — Qatar's GPS tracking market has several established names. Here is how to actually tell them apart, and what we can tell you about how we answer these questions ourselves.

If you've searched for GPS fleet tracking in Qatar, you've likely come across several established providers — Location Solutions, Falcon Trackers, Fleet Board GPS, EffyTrack and Rapport Group among them. Every one of them has been in this market for years, and every one of them lists broadly the same feature set on their homepage: real-time tracking, geofencing, driver behaviour, fuel monitoring. Reading feature lists side by side won't tell you much, because the lists all look alike. What actually separates these companies is not on the homepage.

We won't tell you what to think of the others

We're not going to publish a scorecard rating competitors we don't run day to day — that's not something we can do fairly, and a vendor grading its own rivals is not a source you should trust anyway. What we can do is set out the questions that, in our experience, actually predict whether a fleet tracking relationship works well three years in, and answer them honestly about ourselves. Ask the same questions of Location Solutions, Falcon Trackers, Fleet Board GPS, EffyTrack, or anyone else on your shortlist, and compare the answers directly rather than the marketing copy.

Does the company install its own hardware?

Some providers in this market subcontract installation. That's not automatically a problem, but it matters when something goes wrong three weeks after fitting — a CAN-bus read that drifts, a driver-ID event that doesn't log. If the installer and the platform company are two different businesses, a fault like that tends to become a finger-pointing exercise. At Rapport, our own technicians install every unit we sell, so there's one company accountable for both the hardware in the vehicle and the data it produces.

Is the platform owned or licensed?

A number of GPS tracking companies worldwide, including some operating in Qatar, resell a white-label platform built by a third party. Ask directly: is the software this company's own, or licensed from somewhere else? If it's licensed, who actually fixes a bug or ships a feature request — the company you're talking to, or a vendor several layers removed? Rapport's TracknTrace platform is built and maintained in-house, which is why we can turn around a custom report or a client-specific workflow in days rather than months.

Where does support actually sit?

Ask any provider on your list, Rapport included, exactly where their support team is and what hours they cover. "24/7 support" printed on a website can mean a ticket queue answered from a different time zone the next morning. Our support runs from Doha, on Qatar working hours, which matters most exactly when a fleet manager needs it — outside office hours, when something has already gone wrong.

Can they show pricing structure, or only a quote?

A vendor that can explain, before the first call, roughly what a fleet your size costs and why is telling you something about how transparently the rest of the relationship will run. We publish our pricing structure rather than gating it behind a sales call — see the pricing page for the actual figures at 10, 50 and 200 vehicles.

A short list for your first call with any of them

  1. Installation: In-house technicians, or a subcontractor? Who do you call if a fault shows up weeks later?
  2. Platform: Built by this company, or licensed white-label software?
  3. Support: Which city, which hours, and is there a named contact or only a ticket queue?
  4. Pricing: Can they explain the structure up front, or is it quote-only?
  5. Track record: How many vehicles do they currently run in Qatar, and for how long has the company operated here?

We'd rather earn the comparison on those answers than on a claim about anyone else. If you're weighing Rapport against Location Solutions, Falcon Trackers, Fleet Board GPS, EffyTrack or another Qatar provider, ask us the questions above directly — and ask them of everyone else on your list too.
